REQUIREMENTS

5-10 years of experience as a commercial plumber. Journeyman Plumber's license. High School Diploma.

JOB SUMMARY
Inspects, installs repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating water, gas and plumbing systems of the plant.

DUTIES PERFORMED

Repairs and maintains piping systems and plumbing fixtures. Inspects all connections and other parts of system for leaks. Replaces defective pipe by cutting, bending, threading and assembling pipe. Solders and caulks leaks and broken pipes. Opens clogged drains with plumber's snake or vacuum plunger. Replaces work washers or other parts in leaky valves or taps. Repairs or replaces damaged plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers and bathtubs and/or connects them to outlet and inlet pipes by fitting gaskets, couplings, traps and valves, and soldering connections to seal joints where necessary. As required, may estimate materials needed and record time and material expended on each work order. Will have minor supervisory duties when Mechanic Helper is assigned to assist in the work of the plumber. Performs laboring or other semi-skilled duties including drilling, digging, minor roof repair or cement mixing and cleaning of roof gutters, replacement of missing floor or ceiling tile Perform related duties as assigned.
