Primary Purpose of Organization Unit |
The School of Optometry provides doctoral level education and clinical training in preparation for licensure. At its full capacity, the School of Optometry will support a full-time faculty and staff of approximately 35 employees and a population of approximately 122 graduate students. The Doctor of Optometry program provides a comprehensive four-year curriculum in basic science, optometric science, clinical training, and provision of patient care in the third and fourth years of the program and will be accredited by the Accrediting Council on Optometric Education. The unit will also support a public eye care clinic. |
Primary Purpose of Position |
The Associate Dean, School of Optometry is part of the leadership team for the School and provides support to the Dean in the operation of School's academic affairs. The Associate Dean for Optometry participates in the School of Optometry's strategic planning, policy formation, and key decision making processes. |
Job Description |
The Associate Dean, School of Optometry is responsible for various issues and activities that relate to and are supportive of the School's teaching and research endeavors, the coordination of the curriculum and class schedules, supporting the recruitment and hiring and support of high quality faculty, attending to the daily business of the School, representing the School and the dean's oce on various campus wide committees, and such duties as the dean considers appropriate.
Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Optometry, the Associate Dean, School of Optometry will provide leadership and administrative support and work collaboratively within the school and across UNCP's colleges/schools. This is a full-time, 12- month position. The Associate Dean will report to the Dean, School of Optometry. |
