Job Summary
The Division of Risk Management and Safety seeks candidates for the position of Environmental Health and Safety Managerto support the Ft. Moore Hazardous Waste Management Program. Duties include personnel supervision and management of the Ft. Moore Hazardous Waste Program.
In 2022, Auburn University entered a partnership with Fort Moore to provide environmental compliance services including the management of the hazardous waste program through an Intergovernmental Support Agreement.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and direct the activities and development of a team of environmental specialists and technicians.
  • Manage Ft. Moore 90-Day Central Accumulation Area including: waste turn-in, waste pick-up from satellite accumulation areas and transfer to 90-day Central Accumulation Area, Segregation of Hazardous Waste (HW), waste consolidation, management of used oil and off-spec fuel, container management, and contingency planning.
  • Manage the Ft. Moore hazardous waste Enterprise Environmental, Safety Occupational and Health Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) for 3 other Central Accumulation Areas and Camp Merrill in Dahlonega, GA.
  • Work collaboratively with the Directorate of Public Works Technical Representative and Program Manager, and others to develop and implement the Ft. Moore Hazardous Waste Management Plan and well as operating plans and procedures for the 90-Day CAA facility.
  • Serves as a technical expert regarding hazardous waste and hazardous materials management to provide regulatory interpretation, applicability, and technical advice to the Ft. Moore community.
  • Participate in Local, State and Federal regulatory inspections

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 7 years of experience in managing environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste, clean water, or clean air.


Substitution allowed for Experience: Degrees accepted in lieu of experience, at a rate of one year of relevant education per year of required experience. (Example: Master's degree = 2 years of experience)
