Based in our downtown Denver, CO office, the Civil/Environmental Coordinator/EIT will work under the direction of multiple professional engineers, professional geologists/hydrogeologists, and designers to perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification or standard engineering techniques and procedures. The position will provide a professional introduction to waste/CCR facility design, waste/CCR planning, remediation design/planning, construction administration, construction quality assurance, and business development and project management. The Coordinator/EIT will have opportunities for broader engagement with other HDR teams and projects, including water resources, building engineering services, power, industrial, and transportation.

The candidate should have a strong academic and internship background along with an initiative to perform engineering tasks related to waste management, environmental remediation, facility design, planning, and stormwater management for municipal and private clients. Candidate must be adaptable to conditions including fast-paced and deadline driven work environment.

The majority of the work for this position will be office work with limited days in the field, however some field work for extended periods of time in remote locations may be required.

In the role of Civil/Environmental EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to assist Project Managers/Project Engineers with:



  • Completing site evaluations, soil reports, grading plans, foundation soil analysis, slope stability, design details, landfill gas and leachate system design, sediment soil and groundwater sampling, geologic logging of borings, monitoring well design, storm water modeling and conduct engineering analysis and calculations for permitting, permit compliance, waste/CCR and environmental feasibility studies, prepare reports, construction drawings and specifications and construction management.
  • Performing site visits and document preparation for public and private clients for a broad range of environmental compliance issues.
  • Performing overall site layout, grading, utility layout and drainage.
  • Performing routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Performing administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projects.
  • Some remote field work for periods of up to 3-6 months may be required for construction quality assurance and/or construction administration.
  • Performing other duties as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and GIS experience

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Colorado: $54,978.00 - $78,540.00
