Job Summary Assists other maintenance services workers and may include independent work on low level tasks. Assembles, delivers, installs furniture, furnishings and/or equipment; stores property as needed; uses a computerized work order system to receive and update assigned work. Assists in preparing loads and delivering them to the District salvage center or the landfill as directed. Essential Functions 45% - Assists the trade workers to include; painter, plumber, electricians, carpenters with special projects or emergency repairs as needed. Assists with installing ceiling tile, light bulb replacement and hanging signage and Gaucho banners using a boom lift 30% - Installs signage, marker boards, restroom dispensers and other related equipment on drywall, tile or brick using the proper hand tools 15% - Works on assembly, moving, installation or storage of furniture fixtures and equipment (FF&E) as we continue to upgrade the campus 5% - Using predetermined layouts for larger events, setup chairs, tables, staging, signage, install banners using a boom lift; may work some weekends and evenings as event support 5% - Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and one year of building maintenance or directly related experience. There is no substitution or equivalency allowablefor the High School Diplomaor GED. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directlyrelated full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. Professionally hang signs, tack boards, marker boards, and other related fixtures and equipment B. Assist trades with small in-house build projects to include light building or shop projects, utility repairs or fixture upgrades C. Assists with replacing lighting fixtures and ceiling tiles D. Assembles, installs and repairs and delivers furniture fixtures and equipment (FF&E) E. Event coordination, set up and support for multiple events of all sizes some running concurrently F. Will operate: utility carts, forklift, scissor/boom lifts, large delivery, panel or dump truck. May require travel to North Campus, GRPSTC (Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center) or other offsite locations/colleges as needed; knowledge of hand and shop tools Special Working Conditions Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Working Conditions: Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments with frequent exposure to a variety of weather conditions, for short or long durations, including rain, wind, dust, cold temperatures and extreme desert heat. Work may include moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, fumes, fuels, odors, poor ventilation, gasses, blood or other body fluids). Some indoor work environments may not be air conditioned. Work may involve frequent exposure to loud noise associated with tools or mechanical work and require the use of hand and power tools. Some work may be performed in an office/computer workstation and require the use of a computer and keyboard for training, to check emails, and/or communicate with coworkers and supervision. This classification may require that an incumbent be on their feet, standing or walking while performing duties, for the majority, if not all, of a work shift. Travel and Work Schedule: Travel to various locations at an assigned college or within the District is required. Schedules may consist of shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, or otherwise non-standard work schedules.
