The mission of University Advancement is to secure support for NC State University in terms of dollars, service, and engagement by delivering an integrated program of development, alumni relations, communications and marketing, and advancement services. Our objective is to build deep and long-term relationships with alumni and other stakeholders, and partners that will ensure increased support to NC State in the future.
Advancement Services provides timely, accurate and actionable resources to enhance fundraising and engagement activities at NC State University. We achieve this through effective business intelligence and reporting, compelling donor research and analysis, innovative technology, quality donor and alumni information, and superior customer service, all while applying ethical gift and data management practices. Advancement Services supports the operations of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, University Development and University Communications as well as college and unit advancement offices. The unit oversees the University's alumni & donor database (Ellucian's Advance Web solution), analytics and reporting systems, processing gifts and conducting research about potential contribution opportunities. Advancement Services also maintains financial records, conducts donor research, receipts private gifts following the NC State Standard Operating Procedures for Acceptance of Gifts, administers the corporate matching gifts program, updates & verifies alumni records, manages donor prospect tracking systems, and plans and manages gift agreements & endowment reports.
Essential Job Duties
Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement Information & Technology, the Project Manager provides project management for all Advancement Information Technology projects and other Advancement Services projects as identified. University Advancement is implementing Kindsight Ascend on Salesforce as its next Advancement Customer Relationship Management ( CRM); as such, this position's initial primary focus upon hire will be to serve as University Advancement's project manager on this implementation project. Essential duties related to the CRM implementation will include acting on behalf of University Advancement in all project activities.
Under general direction, the Project Manager plans, manages, and supports complex projects, promotes project management principles within the organization and conducts business process analysis and needs assessments to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.

The individual in this position:

  • Participates in requirements planning and feasibility determination. Generates and/or reviews requirements documentation.
  • Defines project scope, objectives, and success indicators and manage projects from intake through final implementation. Develops detailed work plans, monitors schedules, and provides projected cost and personnel estimates.
  • Identifies risks to project success and works with leadership and stakeholders to mitigate identified risks and issues.
  • Serves as a single point of contact for all team members and stakeholders and is responsible for all aspects of the planning, development, and implementation of assigned projects.
  • Formulates and defines scope and objectives of systems through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.
  • Creates and modifies moderately complex information systems process documents to include analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic diagrams as necessary.
  • Manages the integration of vendor tasks; track and review deliverables related to projects.
  • Supports quality control objectives within the project deliverables in order to provide the most successful implementation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to understand technical issues when working with developers, exercise diplomacy among stakeholders when conflicts arise, and utilize effective communication skills across the organization.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with at least five (5+) years of project management and/or business analysis experience.
Other Required Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of the Project Management Life Cycle and an ability to demonstrate the use of multiple PM methodologies.
  • Knowledge of business systems analysis and current technological developments/trends.
  • Skilled within the Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace suite, proficiency with project management tools, and experience with proven project management methodology.
  • An ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization, both orally and in written form, in a clear, concise, professional, and accurate manner.
  • The ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to non-technical customers.
  • Excellent time management skills and able to meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Experience creating and delivering documentation to customers.
  • General knowledge of Windows, cloud-based technologies, and an ability/desire to learn emerging technologies.

  • Current Project Management certifications
  • Experience participating in a CRM conversion
