Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Washington College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in Mathematics starting in August 2025. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, a strong interest in developing a career as a teacher-scholar at a liberal arts institution and will show significant promise as a scholar in mathematics or a related field.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Washington College provides a competitive benefits package plus opportunities to apply for start-up funds, research funding, and conference travel support.

Job Duties

Essential responsibilities include teaching three courses each semester, supporting students through academic advising and research mentorship, continued scholarship, and service to the Department & College. Typically, two of these courses will be an introductory course such as Calculus or Statistics, and one will be an upper division course.

Additionally, the job Tenure expectations involve teaching excellence, a pattern of productive scholarship leading to peer-reviewed publication, and effective participation in the shared governance of the College.

Washington College is an undergraduate liberal arts college of about 1000 students located in the lovely town of Chestertown on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
