Position Summary

Tutor and assist students in academic studies in math and science for success.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
-
- Tutor students' day and/or evening hours; remote/online or on campus
- Analyze student needs
- Answer student questions and clarify areas of concern
- Guide student development
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe learning environment
- Review classroom or curricula topics and assignments
- Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks
- Work with students to help them understand key concepts, learned in the classroom
- Teach skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and approaches to answering test questions
- Demonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing tactics
- Track progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals for exam preparation
- Provide students positive and constructive feedback
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
-
- Associate's Degree or above from a regionally accredited institution in the content area (or closely related field) being tutored
- College level tutoring experience
- Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles
