Position Summary

The Division of Cardiology, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a Clinical
Research Nurse Coordinator who plans, develops, and oversees the day-to-day
clinical activities for clinical trials and/or other medical research programs
in accordance with the research parameters established by the investigator.
Develops and administers operating procedures for the project, coordinates
project funding and day-to-day interactions with associated departments and
agencies, and oversees patient recruitment, education, and
administration. Coordinates implementation and execution of study protocol, and
oversees all aspects of the provision of patient care to participants, in
compliance with protocol requirements. Works closely with visionary and
inspiring physicians.

The Department of Internal Medicine is a large, progressive

Conditions of Employment
  • CPR Certified.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • May be required to submit immunization records for review for required vaccines and TB testing.
  • Must maintain certification and/or licensure status.
  • May be required to complete department-specific professional development activities.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.


Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Nursing; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure: State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience overseeing the planning, scheduling and day-to-day clinical activities
  • Experience administering prescribed study medications, performing phlebotomy, monitoring vital signs, and/or
    performing other specialized nursing procedures
  • Experience monitoring
    and recording patient response to treatment, and communicating study data and
    results to investigators
  • Experience overseeing
    and coordinating the recruitment, care, and treatment of patient research
    subjects
  • Experience establishing
    appropriate data collection systems and procedures
  • Experience coordinating, planning and implementing clinical pharmaceutical protocol for the study
  • Ability to assess
    operational, financial, and material requirements for studies and develop
    budgets
