Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The individuals hired for Training & Development Consultant positions will be working with a dynamic team of professionals who are part of the Early Childhood Learning Network Division (ECLN) at the CDD. ECLN provides statewide professional development for Home Visiting programs who provide services for young children pre-natal to age five and their families.

The individuals will work independently statewide to conduct regularly scheduled on-site and virtual visits for New Mexico Home Visiting Programs. They will guide Home Visiting Programs in strategic planning and continuous quality improvement efforts, and provide targeted consultation needed to increase capacity and skill level of Home Visiting providers. They will use research-based evidence, data, and state standard requirements as a guide. They will communicate and collaborate with state level partners and will document and develop reports on consultation services provided.

The Training & Development Consultants will develop resource materials, guidance documents, podcasts, and trainings related to Home Visiting that are delivered through a variety of formats including written, in-person, use of videoconferencing, and on-line training modules using an implementation science framework for professional development.

  • strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies from diverse communities throughout New Mexico;
  • ability to be flexible with shifting priorities.

These positions may be based out of a home office in close proximity to the Home Visiting Programs served, otherwise based in the Albuquerque CDD office. The position requires routine statewide travel, including overnight stays, and participation in reflective practice study.
