City Experiences is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our City Ferry Operation in Dauphin Island, AL.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the cosmetic and functional repairs of M/V Fort Morgan and Marissa Mae Nicole. All repairs must be to the standard held by HMS Ferries, Inc. The Maintenance Technician may be assigned other duties or special projects by the Port Captain or General Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Accept tasks from the Port Captain/Captain and plans/implements execution.
  • Paint, repair, clean, and generally improve facilities, vessels and equipment as required by the Port Captain.
  • Basic welding as required.
  • Ensure all aspects of safety during executing tasks.
  • Utilize power tools to accomplish designated tasks.
  • Requisition supplies, tools and other resources from Port Captain as needed.
  • Maintains supply, tool and parts inventories.
  • Use of approved Hazmat required for Paints, Solvents & Cleaning Agents.
  • Assist with filling water, bunkering fuel, connecting and disconnecting shore power as directed.
  • Perform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property, including maintenance and construction tasks as assigned and minor engineering repairs and rounds as direct.
  • Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism.
  • Work to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivity.
  • Seek continuous improvement.
  • Present professional level of customer service and appearance to all - internal and external.
  • Collaborate with other HMS Ferries personnel to remain attentive to regulatory requirements and alert to regulatory changes.
  • Assist Captain in ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist Captain in ensuring vessel is in an inspection-ready condition at all times.
  • Remain true to and champion the RESPECT Service System and Code of Conduct.
  • Safety First - Safety shall remain the highest priority at all times.
  • Present professional level of customer service and appearance to all clients, both internal and external.
  • Additional job duties as assigned.


Requirements & Qualifications:



  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification, and/or ability to obtain and maintain.
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC card), and/or ability to obtain and maintain.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with general mechanics or electrical systems.
  • Previous Maritime experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of working successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others - both orally and written.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, quickly-changing environment.
  • Ability to process calculations frequently and continuously.


Salary: $20 - $24/hour
