THE ROLE:

We are seeking an engineer to join our team that will thrive in a fast-paced work environment, using effective communication, problem-solving and prioritization skills. Individuals that are well organized, show great attention to detail, and employ critical thinking are well-suited for our team.

AMD's Cloud Performance Engineering teams within the Datacenter Ecosystem and Application Engineering (DEAE) organization is looking for a Senior Cloud Performance Engineer who will drive performance engineering efforts internally and with cloud and software partners running AMD EPYC processors.

The role requires a focus on application-level performance tuning and optimization. The successful candidate will be pivotal in enhancing the performance of software applications running on AMD EPYC processors in our cloud partners' data centers, working closely with cloud partners, software partners, and customers to achieve optimal results.

THE PERSON:

This AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) team is looking for a senior level person that can help guide the team, mentor upcoming developers, provide long range strategy, and is willing to jump in to help resolve issues quickly. You will be involved in all areas that impact the team including performance, automation, and development. The right candidate will be informed on the latest trends and become prepared to give consultative direction to senior management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead application-level performance tuning and optimization efforts for systems running AMD EPYC CPUs.
  • Collaborate with cloud partners to optimize application performance for different cloud environments.
  • Engage with software partners to refine and enhance application performance.
  • Provide technical guidance for performance-related inquiries.
  • Develop performance benchmarks and metrics for application evaluation.
  • Conduct in-depth performance analysis and identify bottlenecks at the application level.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement performance improvements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in cloud computing and performance engineering.
  • Maintain a powerful desire to learn new skills and understand new features as they are added.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of working within and across groups.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Responsible for exploring opportunities to improve product.
  • Work closely with other team members to understand design architecture and to propose solutions to improve and enhance products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Understanding of CPU and systems architecture
  • Proficiency in performance analysis tools and methodologies on Linux
  • Experience running and analyzing system benchmarks on Linux
  • Strong experience with cloud services and cloud-based application deployment
  • Solid programming skills in Python, C, or C++
  • Experience in customer/partner engagement
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CPU/Software performance engineering, with a focus on application performance

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
