Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office ( EOC) is UNC-Chapel Hill's designated, central office for addressing issues related to discrimination and harassment based on any protected status, including sexual assault, sexual violence, interpersonal violence, and stalking, as well as retaliation and other related misconduct. EOC addresses all matters related to compliance with relevant education and employment laws and regulations, including Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other related laws. EOC's compliance efforts include creating, implementing, and enforcing University policies that promote an equitable, inclusive, and welcoming campus community; providing accommodations for students and employees based on protected status; handling matters related to equal employment opportunities; and providing educational programs and consulting services in these areas across campus.
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The position will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Director of EO/ ADA Coordinator and the Accommodations team, with a focus on supporting student inquiries to the office. Duties will include managing all incoming emails related to student accommodations and accessibility issues and serving as the point of contact for phone calls and incoming guests to the office's SASB location. Because of the office configuration and where this position is physically located, this position has significant responsibilities for greeting, referring, and assisting visitors and staff. Other duties will include management of student and/or employee accommodation request files, management of accommodations tracking, entry of EEO data forms, and other duties as assigned. This position will also participate in the review and determination of accommodations requests.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to effectively receive and share accurate, appropriate information with students, faculty, staff, parents/families, community partners and office colleagues.
* Exceptional active-listening skills and the ability to respond to challenging situations in a calm and deliberate manner.
* Ability to accommodate the varied pace of the work environment, understanding that various times of a day, week, or year present different levels of workflow.
* Must have the ability to use Excel and Word
* Must have ability to use templates as examples to create new letters for individual cases.
* Must have ability to do data entry on a computer.
* Must have ability to maintain confidentiality when working with highly sensitive information.
* Must have strong attention to detail.
* Must have the ability to work on site and in person, as directed and up to full time.
* Competent in management of multiple tasks through effective prioritization.
* Capacity to address emergent needs while also managing short- and long-term projects/tasks.
* Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information in a discrete and appropriate manner.
* Understanding of the importance of customer focused and solution-oriented service to the campus community.
* Experience working as a part of a team and maintaining positive professional relationships.
* Ability to be sensitive to the needs of the target population.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Demonstrated understanding of the University environment and ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, parents / families, and community partners to address a wide array of situations and/or concerns.
* Knowledge of legislative framework governing the work of the office.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
