Summary of Job Duties:Assist with the management and administration of an effective and efficient basketball program. The position reports to the director of athletics. This position is part-time. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Verifiable experience coaching basketball.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of all aspects of the game of basketball.
  • Familiarity with university policies regarding athletics, Division II basketball programs, Lone Star Conference rules, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Successful completion of theNCAACoaches Certification before the first practice.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of practice and game preparation as directed by head coach, including but not limited to offensive and defensive drills, individual player improvement, game organization, and pre-and post-season improvement programs example: weight room.
  • Assist in the recruitment of players by identifying and assessing talent, communicating with prospective recruits by mail, phone, and other facets.
  • Responsible for academic supervision of players including, but not limited to classroom checks, arranging study halls and tutoring sessions, and communication with an academic advisor and Faculty Athletic Representative.
  • Responsible for building good relationships with players, faculty, staff, boosters, and the community, monitoring possible disciplinary situations, serving as a liaison between players and head coach.
  • Other duties as assigned.
