Job Summary

The Fermentation Process Engineer will own process improvement and performance for their area of the Rochester Probiotics and Direct Fed Microbials Plant.

Participate and/or lead numerous divisional projects with local and global scope.

This role will include working with the manufacturing staff and vendors to specify process equipment for capital plans and providing engineering support for capital improvement projects.

The position is instrumental in analyzing process information, developing conceptual improvements and designing and carrying out experiments needed to implement improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Drive product cost to a minimum via quality, efficiency, and safety improvements.
  • Monitor process performance in the facility--including KPI generation and tracking
  • Proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues to support and improve efficiencyof the Rochester manufacturing operation.
  • Design and execution of experiments to improve process performance.
  • Develop basic data and detailed design with Capital Project Engineer for area CAPEX projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects through plant operational ring teams.
  • Leading new product and technology introduction to the plant via collaboration with Process R&D, Operations, and Supply Chain functions.
  • Execute projects covering technical aspects of manufacturing.
  • Leadership of project teams, where appropriate.
  • Collaboration with operations to implement process documentation updates for industrialized processes included, but not limitedto batch sheets, training documents, SOPs, etc.
  • Design and development of operations protocols, processing equipment installations and plant
  • Development of technical assumptions for AOP and ongoing analysis of cost and performance.
  • Acts in compliance with all company policies including, but not limited to: Quality, Safety,Food/Feed Safety, Environmental, GMPs, Dietary Supplements, and HACCP.
  • Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including ISO 22000 Food Safety, FAMI-QS andNSF Dietary Supplements with an understanding of IFF/Danisco Corporate Quality policies andprocedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • BS / BA degree in Chemical or Bio-chemical engineering or like experience with 3-5 years experience.
  • Skilled in the use of statistical analysis and proficient in the use of spreadsheets and data bases.
  • Process design expertise, e.g. calculation of material and energy balances, equipmentspecification, facility layout design.
  • Applied working knowledge of fermentation and downstream processing technology.
  • Experience working with Lactic acid bacteria or bacillus a plus

Salary Ranges:

$73,700.00 - $110,500.00
