Lab Technician

Simpsonville, SC

1st Shift (Monday - Friday 6am-3pm)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in specific research areas or laboratory techniques.

  • Design and implement advanced experimental methodologies.

  • Actively contribute to the development of new products or technologies.

  • Mentor junior and mid-level technicians, and provide guidance on career development.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners on research initiatives.

  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.

  • Formulate and synthesize experimental samples aimed at meeting project/market/customer requirements. Samples are tested using standard analytical/physical testing techniques. Project updates are documented and executed using project management methodologies. Test results and product improvement recommendations are documented.

  • Conduct/develop laboratory and pilot scale application tests in order to evaluate experiments samples, solve application process problems, or make recommendations to customers for products and/or process improvements. Conduct or assist with trials at existing and potential customer facilities to support process/product introductions. Project updates are documented and executed using project management methodologies. Test results and process improvement recommendations are documented.

  • Commercialization and technology transfer. Provide training to the technical, application, marketing, and sales personnel on specific product attributes and application techniques. Request feedback on market/technology needs. Assist or conduct pilot and field tests using customer substrates. Assist in pilot scale up and transfer of products to full production.

Minimum Requirements

  • Industrial laboratory/application experience, the sum of which totals 4 years.

  • Knowledge of the polymer industry (manufacturing process, equipment, substrates, surface preparation methods)

  • Knowledge of the HBF products (Adhesives, polymers, primers, etc.)

  • Proven ability to evaluate & optimize customer processes.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of waterbased formulation and production methods.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of polymer test methods and equipment.

  • Proven ability to work independently in lab, and plant situations.

Physical Environment

  • May be required to stand all day

  • Ability to handle full 5 gallon pails (~50lbs)

  • employee will work with hazardous chemicals and will be required to wear appropriate PPE

  • work Environment may be a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is starting at $25/hr.
