Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to keep all buildings of the Milwaukee Public Schools and the surrounding areas clean and neat at all times. Full and part time positions available with the opportunity to move into a full time position. Must be available to work days and additional hours as directed by the school engineer during winter, spring, and summer recess.

Starting Pay Rate: $17.88/Hour

THE SELECTION PROCESS: will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral or performance tests; or other assessment methods. The Office of Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to oral and performance examinations. Oral examinations may include written exercises. Selection process component weights will be determined by further analysis of the job.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, mops and applies floor finish to stairs, corridors and floors of all rooms.
  • Vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets.
  • Dusts and washes chalkboards, walls, woodwork, lockers, desks and other furniture, fixtures and surfaces.
  • Cleans glass in cabinets, windows, doors and mirrors.
  • Cleans toilet and lavatory facilities and refilling toilet paper, paper and cloth towels and soap dispensers.
  • Checks and locks windows and doors.
  • Collects waste paper and empties waste and recycling containers throughout the assigned building.
  • Moves and transfers furniture and other heavy objects.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment and tools of the job.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
