Job Summary

Plans, coordinates, implements, reviews and evaluates activities and materials for the Superintendent's education agenda. Works closely with the Superintendent and Chief of Staff to support the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Superintendent performing a variety of administrative, clerical and managerial tasks.

Salary: $79,171 - 114,078

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is required; master's degree preferred in Creative Writing, English, Journalism or related field of editing preferred.
  • Work experience and certifications will be considered in conjunction with but, as a substitute for, a degree.
  • Five or more years of experience working for a large organization collaborating with multiple departments and partners simultaneously.
  • Strong command of the English language demonstrated through extensive writing and editing.
  • Intermediate to advanced technical skills in editing software, Word, Excel, Power Point and other relevant software and databases as needed.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Responsibilities

  1. Works with the Superintendent's team to complete a variety of administrative tasks for the Superintendent, including managing an active calendar of appointments, completing expense reports, composing confidential correspondence, arranging travel, and preparing documents for meetings.
  2. Coordinates with the Superintendent's executive assistant and chief of staff to plan, coordinate and ensure the Superintendent's schedule is followed and respected.
  3. Collaborates with the Superintendent's executive assistant, chief of staff and Superintendent to plan, ensure and respect the Superintendent's schedule.
  4. Assists with special projects, research, data verification, and communications on behalf of the Superintendent.
  5. Collaborates with the Superintendent's executive assistant and chief of staff to coordinate conference calls, calendars and meetings, ensuring the Superintendent is well-prepared.
  6. Attends meetings with the Superintendent to take notes or dictation and provide assistance as needed.
  7. Disseminates essential information to senior staff.
  8. Assists the Superintendent's team in sharing MPS events and best practices with community stakeholders.
  9. Develops proposals and assists in fundraising for educational initiatives identified by the Superintendent and senior staff.
  10. Prepares meeting logistics and ensures appropriate sharing of information and documents with attendees.
  11. Supports the dissemination of MPS best practices and accomplishments to community stakeholders.
  12. Prepares documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations at the request of the Superintendent and senior staff.
  13. Reviews, proofreads and edits documents (e.g., emails, letters, memos, public communications, board items, presentations) from the Offices of the Superintendent and Chief of Staff.
  14. Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  15. Completes other duties as assigned.
