JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I

FSLA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE

REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Job Summary:

Production Maintenance Mechanic I is available for a qualified individual with proven maintenance skills. Responsibilities include efficient preventative maintenance and repair of food manufacturing and packaging equipment, including Aseptic Fillers, Cappers, Packer and/or High Temperature Processing (HTP) equipment. Can execute Preventative, Corrective and Break down Work Orders under direction of a Level II III, Lead or Supervisor. Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Wears PPE and adheres to all Food Safety requirements.
  • Strictly adheres to all Safety requirements and maintains safety training records.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ensure safety in the workplace by eliminating unsafe conditions.
  • Performs planned, corrective, and unplanned maintenance on specified equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand Maintenance Manuals for proper repair and care.
  • Capable of effectively supporting more senior mechanics in complex repairs or services.
  • Protect Company assets by the direct intervention of any condition resulting in the abuse of equipment or buildings.
  • General computer skills.
  • Enters time, parts and follow ups into CMMS System.
  • Remain current on all Alchemy, Food Safety and Package Integrity Training as directed.
  • Skilled in the use of, and possession of, hand and power tools.
  • Executes the preventive maintenance program as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Maintains communication (oral and written) within the maintenance team to ensure smooth shift transitions.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

  • Motivation - Eagerness to learn Aseptic Filling Principles.
  • Planning/Organizing - Enter daily activities into CMMS System, generates work orders and effectively executes work assigned to him/her in a timely manner.
  • Professionalism- Approaches others in a tactful manner, treats others with respect and consideration, accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments.
  • Quality- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Development - Willingness to learn CMMS process.
  • Adaptability- Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands, changes approach or method to best fit the situation, able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Dependability- Follow instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals. Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  • Initiative- Volunteers readily; undertakes self-development activities; seeks increased responsibilities; asks for and offers help when needed.
  • Innovation- Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work.


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • None.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A self-starter capable of working in a team-based environment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Industrial Maintenance experience


Knowledge and Skills:



  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of business and manufacturing software.
