Performs journeyman level work in the installation, repair, maintenance and testing of mechanical systems, including pumps, fans, compressors, and other associated components; and other duties as assigned. Maintain a flexible work schedule including being on-call. Must be willing to work occasional weekends or cover shifts.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent. An equivalent level of experience is acceptable in lieu of a High School diploma or GED. 1 year experience in maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems with some basic knowledge in electrical, plumbing and building automation. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and repair of pumps, fans, compressors, etc. Sets up rigging required to set pumps/fans. Utilizes precision instruments to ensure proper belts, chains, coupling, bearings, and other drive components.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, including lubrication, inspections, and replacement/adjustment to packing and seals.
  • Reads blueprints, works from specifications, and follows both written and verbal instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned, including assisting other trades to meet the operational need of the university.
