The Lead-Bioinformatics Research Scientist takes a lead role in data analysis, data visualization, statistical analysis, experimental design, database development, mathematical modeling, and novel method development. Working independently, provides bioinformatics analysis for investigators and communicates analytical process and results.
The laboratory of Dr. Octavio Ramilo is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics scientist to analyze large NGS data sets from clinical and translational studies of pediatric respiratory virus infections. The scientist will work in an interdisciplinary team of research scientists, clinical researchers, and clinicians working together to solve some of the most challenging questions in pediatric infectious diseases. The lab uses NGS technologies, multiplexed cytokine analysis, and large clinical datasets to define immune responses to pediatric respiratory pathogens from the first post-natal exposure and follow how early life exposures dictate subsequent exposures and vaccinations. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of RNA-seq, single-cell NGS analysis, and large data set analysis with a background in immunology, infectious diseases, or related fields. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
