Unit Description

The Baptist Health Lexington Mother/Baby Unit is comprised of 42 private rooms and is staffed by skilled and compassionate nurses who specialize in providing a high level of patient-centered postpartum care for both Mom and baby. Our newborn nursery is staffed by two newborn assessment nurses (NANs) and our patients receive breastfeeding guidance from staff along with our knowledgeable certified lactation consultants. Many members of the team have received extra training and certification in maternal and newborn care. Our focus is assisting families in getting the best start possible and making the transition to home as smooth as possible through the provision of quality care, education, and support.

Shift: Part-time, Nights

Job Description:

• The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as awhole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

• As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/hertime (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provisionof nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities;provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning asapplicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

• Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college/university or an associate degree with a minimum of ten (10) years' experience required. (In lieu of a bachelor's degree and less than ten years'experience, an associate degree in nursing will be acceptable for initial hire with the understandingthat the individual must be enrolled within 12 months in a bachelor's degree program and must haveachieved the degree within 5 years.)
• Basic Life Support
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department ofassignment.
