PLUMBER FOREMAN

PROVIDENT HOSPITAL

JOB SUMMARY

The Plumber Foreman leads and supervises the daily performance of Plumbers. Implements departmental activities including preventive maintenance, scheduling, job assignments, supply ordering, training of personnel in their general and specific duties: safety and effective management.

Typical Duties

* Responsible for the direction, supervision, guidance, technical assistance, and scheduling of the Plumber positions.

* Oversees the corrective, emergency and preventive maintenance of building exterior and interior as relates to plumbing work.

* Reports daily to the Supervisor of Mechanics II regarding the general condition of hospital facilities and the general progress of work being accomplished.

* Reviews maintenance and emergency requests, schedules work tasks, and checks to see that work assignments are properly executed within a reasonable length of time.

* Estimates time, materials required, and cost requirements to complete assignments.

* Orders selected parts and materials for work activities; maintains purchasing practices and policies.

* Ensures maintenance and inventory records are current.

* Coordinates job assignments with Skilled Trades and other departments.

* Assists in plumbing tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED

* Current Journeyman Plumber's License

* Five years of experience in maintenance of commercial or industrial buildings

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous supervisory experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Knowledge of current industry standards and regulations.

* Extensive knowledge of plumbing materials, tools, and equipment.

* Broad knowledge of principles and procedures of piping / mechanical work.

* Skilled in interpersonal relations.

* Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

* Ability to work near moving mechanical parts.

* Ability to work in highly precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of radiation and vibration.

* Ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

A copy of a valid State ID Card or Driver's License which identifies the holder of the ID as a Veteran, may also be attached to the application at time of filing.
