Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products Group is seeking qualified professionals for the role of
Process Control Technician to primarily support the Port Hudson Converting Technologies within the Mill located in Zachary, LA.

Reporting to the Process Control Leader, the Process Control Technician will primarily be responsible for supporting and improving controls and automation systems on the Tissue and Towel converting assets. A successful candidate will enjoy utilizing technical expertise to solve problems and improve the reliability and functionality of existing control systems while also sharing knowledge with other support groups.

Our Team

The Port Hudson mill utilizes several different brands of process control and automation equipment to fit the needs of its many processes. Specifically, some familiar types of process control and automation equipment onsite include: ControlLogix PLCs, DeltaV DCS, Experion DCS, Keyence safety scanners, Davinci QCS, and Powerflex drives. Georgia Pacific maintains Koch's philosophy that all employees are encouraged to leverage their comparative advantage whenever necessary. This means that the Process Control Technician is always free to utilize their skillset with any of the above-mentioned brands of process control and automation equipment whenever essential to success.

What You Will Do

  • Develop understanding and application of PBM(r) to guide overall performance in the role as a Process Control Technician.
  • Create and lead an environment where the team achieves zero incidents in Environmental, Health and Safety. Ensure excellence with the safety systems on the Tissue and Towel converting assets; ensuring the facility's control systems are operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.
  • Effective cross functional collaboration within the Manufacturing Environment.
  • Providing guidance to manufacturing operations on selection and implementation of process control technologies
  • Providing troubleshooting and support of the daily manufacturing operation
  • Designing, programming, modifying and maintaining PLC, HMI, and variable frequency drive systems; Pursuing technical solutions to resolve equipment deficiencies.
  • Assist with project executions and startups
  • Lead the effort to identify, investigate, recommend and implement equipment improvements, new systems and process changes that will improve productivity (OEE), yield, quality and/or reduce costs

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Technical trade school or engineering degree is preferred
  • Relevant experience working with PLC systems to include troubleshooting, configuration, and HMI design
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or plant environment (including internships or co-ops)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience working with Allen Bradley PLCs (specifically ControlLogix)
  • Relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with 3-phase motor controls, 480V AC systems, and low voltage DC systems
  • Experience working with VFDs, servos, and fieldbus networks such as Profibus, Controlnet, Devicenet, and Ethernet
