Our systems are designed according to the APCO Project 25 communications standard. As data services expand, we are enhancing mobile wireless networks with LTE infrastructure to support applications like APX Next Smart and live mobile video transmission while continuing to support our core voice and narrowband data networks. Note: This is a remote position with travel (25-50%) to support projects primarily in AL and also supporting projects in TN, MS, AR, and LA.

Overview:

The Systems Engineer will have a unique opportunity to design and implement cutting-edge public safety communication solutions for Motorola's ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for State and Local government agencies. This role is ideal for Engineers energized by the prospect of delivering solutions that truly make a difference.

This involves:

  • Design and implement radio networks, including infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul, and WAN/LAN networks.
  • A high level of customer and consultant interaction, including customer design reviews, customer-witnessed staging, acceptance testing events, coverage acceptance testing, live system upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • System build-out, configuration, and acceptance testing will be conducted in lab staging and field environments.
  • Radio coverage testing, frequency analysis, and interference mitigation.
  • Complete system documentation.
  • Live system cutovers and upgrades.

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of: Radio Frequency and Radio Frequency Distribution Engineering principles
  • Land Mobile Radio Engineering principles.
  • APCO P25 Land Mobile Radio familiarity.
  • Servers and related systems, including VMware ESXi, Linux, and Microsoft operating systems.
  • Experience with networking components. Specific experience with Fortinet, Nokia, Juniper, and HP/Aruba switches.
  • Knowledge of point-to-point Microwave systems and design.
  • Knowledge and experience with networking and the OSI reference model.
  • Certifications a plus through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar.
  • Works collaboratively and cultivates relationships with colleagues, clients, and third-party service professionals.
  • Self-motivated with good written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or technical discipline and 4+ years of engineering or technical experience
  • OR 6 years of engineering or technical experience
