Job Summary

Join our Oak Creek, WI team as a Quality Engineering Intern! Our internships are hands on, highly technical, and designed to let you see what it's like to work at Astronautics. This is a paid undergraduate intern opportunity. As an engineering intern, you will work closely with our engineering staff on actual customer projects. Our summer intern program consists of at least 10 weeks of real world experience in an engineering development environment.

In addition to quality engineering, we have open opportunities in data security, electrical, software, and systems engineering this summer. Mentors are assigned to assist interns in achieving engineering related career development that is of mutual benefit to you and Astronautics. Our internship program includes events and opportunities to meet other interns and employees across the organization.

The Quality Engineering Intern will contribute to the launch of new avionic flight display products through implementation of improvements to processes and procedures based on current performance analysis. The intern will be part of a project team having deliverables that contribute to the success of Astronautics Corporation. This role is focused around analyzing current processes and proposing improvements to the Quality managers. The intern will have an opportunity to experience engineering practices beyond the standard University class room and lab education. Typical activities may include the following:

  • Documentation related to evaluation test plans, quality test reports, process instructions, and procedure updates.
  • Measurement equipment programming
  • Monthly metrics
  • Trend analysis
  • Assistance with re-vamp of 5S
  • Assistance with Kaizen and mini "Kaizen" (e.g. Fishbone Session, Process Flow Chart Session) events
  • Assistance with:
  • Multi-axis Vibration testing
  • Evaluation, modification, and updates to Vibration test fixtures
  • Developing environmental product test profiles

Desired Skills:

  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Capability of working independently in a lab environment

Education and Experience:

Required

  • Current accredited college or university enrollment with junior or senior standing; making progress towards an undergraduate degree in in Aerospace, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work full-time onsite during the summer of 2025
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Desired

  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above
  • Laboratory experience integrating multiple pieces of equipment, signal sources and processors
  • Experience with Six Sigma analytical processes is a plus
  • Ability to work part-time during the school year
