DEKA Research and Development is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for process development and improvement of complex mechanical assemblies that are transitioning from design into manufacturing. This key role as a Manufacturing Engineer requires cross-functional effectiveness both internally and externally with the engineering team, operations team, materials team, customers, and partners.

How you'll make an impact as a Manufacturing Engineer:
  • Work collaboratively with engineering team to develop robust, production-ready designs
  • Develop and maintain bill of materials, line layout, production control methods, clear assembly instructions, fixtures, and PFMEA's
  • Plan, conduct and execute pre-production builds, with a vision for volume production
  • Consult with suppliers to determine product specifications, working with supply chain team to purchase equipment, materials, and parts
  • Interface with manufacturing partners for all stages of design transfer to ensure products meet performance criteria, delivering a quality product on-time
  • Troubleshooting pre-production medical devices and supporting ongoing test efforts
Skills you will need to be successful in this role as a Manufacturing Engineer:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment (medical device preferred)
  • Must have Solidworks experience, aCSWA or other certification a plus
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability and/or Design Transfer
  • Previous hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electro-mechanical systems/devices.
  • Knowledge of component forming processes, assembly processes, and production line optimization
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles(prior experienced preferred)
  • Passionate about understanding how things work, and solving tough technical problems
  • Must have excellent communication skillsand time management skills
