Requisition Id13750 Overview: We are seeking aConference Planning Specialist who will support the Conference & Travel Management Group in the Accounting Operations Division, Business Services Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide oversite of the planning and execution of conferences, meetings, and special events hosted by ORNL. Negotiate contracts with lodging, meeting, and transportation providers. Attend conferences, when necessary, to provide on-site assistance. Reconcile and complete closing process of each event. Ability to work some nights and weekends for events. Become familiar with the ORNL Conference System and related business systems to perform tasks supporting conference planning. Ensure compliance with environments, safety, health, and quality program requirements. Maintain strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics. Maintain compliance with ORNL Conference and Meeting Business Rules. Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma and a minimum of 7 years of related experience in business operations, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Demonstrate planning and organizing skills, abilityto coordinate many projects simultaneously with changing priorities, and excellent problem analysis and resolution skills are required. Must possess the abilityand willingness to work effectively as a member of a team, as well as independently, as required. Excellent attention to detail, well-developed written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to assess priorities, allocate workloads, and meet conflicting deadlines. Ability to interface with scientific and technical staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business or hospitality industry related discipline and 4 or more years of broad training and experience in business operations and event planning preferred. Knowledge of UT-Battelle and DOE conference systems, policies, and procedures preferred Knowledge of SAP systems preferred
