Field Services Technician

The field services technician position involves installing, maintaining, repairing, and supporting voice and data microwave communication systems on Offshore and land-based facilities. The Field Technician is responsible for remaining on a rotational hitch in order to prepare, dispatch, coordinate, and support all aspects of the Microwave Network Infrastructure. This role must also be able to provide midlevel system installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance on Viasat's products and services overseas, onshore, and offshore as appropriate

Responsible for performing customer support activities, which involve the service, installation, and troubleshooting/repair of Microwave, LTE, and satellite communications systems, Internet services, Intercom Systems, and two-way radio systems on onshore and offshore sites, and remote locations.

• Handle job ownership throughout completion which includes: Time Sheets, Inventory Documentation, and Field Tickets
• Provide technical support and resources to ensure delivery of service.
• Be the liaison with clients, and groups within Viasat to ensure the timely delivery of service. Installation, commissioning and maintenance of all microwave infrastructure equipment, including Configuration, test, and faultfinding of Microwave, LTE, WiMAX, and Satellite radios. Configuration, test, and faultfinding of Auxiliary power, DC, and Battery systems. Assembly and installation of antenna systems
• Provide assistance to other Field Technicians during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Microwave systems.
• Assist with the problem-solving of technical issues within the company.
• Follow all safety requirements implemented by employer, customers, facility owners, or vendors involved in the employee's daily tasks, including but not limited to, ISN/PEC, H2S, Water Egress, Lock Out/Tag Out, First Aid/CPR, Lifting, Fall Protection, etc.
• Finish required documentation accurately, and legibly and obtain proper approvals from job site location management.

Looking for 3+ years of technical working knowledge in the following areas:

• Radio Frequency Communications Systems: Experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of radio frequency (RF) communication systems or similar systems.
• Auxiliary Power Systems: Knowledge and practical experience in configuring, testing, and fault-finding of auxiliary power systems, including DC power and battery systems.
• Antenna Systems: Skill in the assembly, installation, and alignment of antenna systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Technical Documentation: Proficient in documenting service activities, equipment status, and maintenance records. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Suite.
• Safety Compliance: Ability to adhere to safety requirements and protocols, including ISN/PEC, H2S, Water Egress, Lock Out/Tag Out, First Aid/CPR, and Fall Protection.

Certifications and Requirements:

• OGUK Medical Clearance: Must be able to pass an OGUK (Offshore Medical UK) physical examination to ensure fitness for offshore work.
• Drug and Alcohol Screening: Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol (D&A) screening to comply with safety and regulatory standards.
• TWIC Card: Ability to acquire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card, necessary for access to secure facilities.
• Passport: Must currently hold or have the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel as required.
• Driving License: Valid state driver's license with a good driving record.

Organizational Skills: Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently and work with minimal direction.

Networking Systems :Familiarity with network configuration, faultfinding, and performance optimization.

Radio Frequency Communications Systems: experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of radio frequency (RF) communication systems.
