Your Opportunity

Compensation $21.75 ADU training pay then moved to PBL.

Responsible for driving ADU truck on a route-oriented basis to various farms, servicing ADU containers, and transporting product to a rendering facility to be offloaded.

Core Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned route in a safe and productive manner.
  • Perform pre-trip and post trip inspections on vehicle to ensure that equipment is in good working condition.
  • Collaborate with other drivers and dispatchers to insure scheduling.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
  • Read and interpret maps, and written directions to determine vehicle routes.
  • Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, telephones and GPS systems, to exchange necessary information with dispatchers, supervisors, and other driver.
  • Complete and turn in all paperwork and related documentation upon completion of shift.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for understanding and complying with company SIPS, EMS and BMS policies and procedures while performing their job duties.
  • Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
  • Read and understand the company's emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, preferred.

  • Current Class A CDL.

  • 1 year or more CDL driving experience preferred.

  • At least 21 years old.

  • Acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card upon hire.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, and holidays).

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The work environment characteristics & physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Hook up trailer to tractor, this includes backing under the trailer, raising landing gear and hooking up airlines.

  • Roll up and down landing gear that can require use of two hands and upper torso when on ground and one when gear clears the ground.

  • Operate a manual transmission tractor

  • During pre-trip of equipment be able to climb into engine area; bend, stoop, and crawl to complete through pre-trip.

  • Open and close trailer gates and doors to load and unload animals.

  • Get in and out of cab in tight places such as fuel islands.

  • Move upper torso when backing may require leaning out of window to see blind spot and/or mirrors.

  • Report problems encountered on the farm or designated plant through the swine movement ticket or farm condition report.

  • Read and understand the Smithfield emergency notification process knowing how and who to contact in case of an emergency.
