Quality Excellence Manager

PURPOSE:

The Quality Excellence Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for quality management programs across Printpack US. This Quality Excellence Manager will be directly responsible for quality leadership of 4-5 Printpack US production locations. This role champions quality initiatives focused on elevating quality performance with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. A key aspect of the role is engaging with customers to understand their needs, requirements, and expectations regarding quality.

The Quality Excellence Manager will work with customers and Printpack plants to address any quality concerns, gather feedback, and implement improvements to deliver products and services that consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.
POSITION SCOPE:

The Quality Excellence Manager will work closely with plant managers, quality teams, operations teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to implement quality strategies and initiatives across multiple Printpack US plants. This role will significantly impact reducing quality issues and improve customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, operations management, or a related field

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ASQ, ISO, Six Sigma)

  • 10+ years of experience in quality or technical leadership in the manufacturing industry, flexible packaging experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
COLLABORATION AND SUPPORT
  • Identify and execute projects to reduce quality-related costs, such as rework, scrap, and returns, through process improvements and preventative measures.

  • Create and distribute safety and quality alerts to raise awareness of potential risks.

  • Lead root cause analysis for complex quality issues or customer claims and develop comprehensive corrective and preventive action plans (CAPAs).

  • Establish, track, and report on quality metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to provide visibility into performance trends and areas for improvement.

  • Analyze nonconformance data from internal and supplier sources to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Implement quality control programs, such as control charting, and provide training and guidance to plant personnel on addressing out-of-control processes and special situations.

  • Develop and deliver product quality systems and training programs to ensure consistent application of quality principles, tools, and best practices across the organization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality improvements and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

CUSTOMER AND SUPPLIER INTERACTION
  • Take a leading role in customer quality initiatives, actively participating in meetings and collaborating on scorecard development to drive continuous improvement and strengthen relationships.

  • Manage supplier quality programs, including supplier audits, performance evaluations, and corrective action management, to drive quality improvements in supplied materials and components.

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP
  • Lead and motivate the quality team in a manner that promotes continuous improvement, associate engagement, and a dedication to safe working conditions and behaviors.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quality management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & TRAVEL
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for significant periods of time and to move throughout the plant (this includes steps and ladders) to complete work machine side, in the lab, and warehouse.

  • Travel Requirements: Up to 50%
