Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Enrollment the Graduate Admissions Recruiting Specialist (GARS) develops and implements strategies to recruit prospective students in order to support Eastern Virginia Medical School's enrollment strategic goals and mission. This position is expected to establish and meet annual recruitment goals by developing key relationships with undergraduate institutions, healthcare organizations, and community organizations; organizing recruitment activities and events, making presentations. The position requires collaboration with the Program Directors to meet their recruitment goals and collaborating with the Enrollment Communications Manager to develop and implement a communications plan for following up with prospective students. The position requires participation at evening and weekend off campus events.



Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the Director of Enrollment develop an annual recruitment plan based on demographic and market research with specific strategies to reach prospective students and defined enrollment goals.
  • Build a network of relationships with higher education institutions, high schools, healthcare organizations, businesses and community organizations in order to enhance outreach to prospective students.
  • Develop presentations to promote EVMS to various constituencies utilizing traditional formats and innovative technologies.
  • In collaboration with the Enrollment Communications Manager, develop a communications plan to follow up on leads, identify new opportunities in the service area, and respond to inquiries from prospective students using all available technologies including social media.
  • Maintain a system to track the status of prospective students in the enrollment funnel in order to take proactive steps to generate a maximum yield.
  • In partnership with the Diversity and Inclusion, build K-12 pathways for students.
  • Provide excellent customer service to prospective students through all phases of the admissions process.
  • Assist with the execution of department processes and programs including utilizing recruitment software, planning special events, and processing admissions packets.
  • Manage the Campus tours for Admissions & Recruitment events.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with programs in order to solicit their support and suggestions in recruiting prospective students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Bachelors or Master degree is preferred, but not required.

Two (2) years' of experience in admissions recruitment, sales or marketing that involved heavy volume of interaction and communication with potential clients and/or cold calling activities required. Prior experience that involved the development and delivery of professional presentations/speeches and the delivery of information to a diverse population in person, electronically and via the phone. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and prior exposure to a database system; ability to create standard documents and reports. Must have a willingness to travel with an assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual. Prior experience with the student/educator/adult student population. Prior exposure and success with achieving desired goals or targets and an understanding of strategic recruiting, marketing or sales tactics.

Valid Driver's license, provide a recent DMV report and have use of a vehicle in good working order with proof of insurance with a minimum limit of liability of $100,000 per accident as use of a personal vehicle will be required as part of this position. Copies of all documents must be provided to Human Resources, prior to any use of a personal vehicle for this position.
