Job Title: Cook / Chef / Prep Cook (Food Protection Manager) Location: Madden Mental Health Center, 1200 S 1st Ave, Hines IL 60141 Payrate: $20/hour on w2 Duration: 5+ Months Shift 1: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (2)11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Note:: Illinois Certified Food Protection Manager Job Description: Prepares and cooks on a quantity scale basis for individuals and staff of the Madden Mental Health Center on a designated shift. Assumes responsibility for the section of the meal preparation assigned. Batch cooks according to policies and procedures. Cooks meats and vegetables and prepares other foods and beverages. Prepares and cooks food to meet special diet menu requirements. Batch cooks food and avoids production. Uses standard recipes when preparing food items. Prepares quality meals and adheres to portion control. Operates standard cooking equipment such as mixing machines, steam cookers, toasters, food choppers, baked ovens, steam kettles. Cares for and makes minor adjustments to equipment. Assists in the training of other dietary staff to cook in emergencies. Maintains proper health and sanitation conditions in the assigned kitchen/work area according to the standard of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HAACP) and Board of Health. Assists in the inspection of the kitchen to verify the kitchen is equipped with the necessary supplies and needed food. Cleans equipment and work area to maintain sanitation, safety, and conditions. Reports hazards and malfunctions of equipment to the manager of the office assistant. Serves as back-up for the food service line with food/batch cook required food items. Completes all Client (Client) and Capitol Region Mental Health Center (CRMHC) mandatory training requirements and participates in education workshops to maintain profession and competency.
