EHS Internship (Akron, Ohio / The Woodlands, Texas)
Huntsman Corporation is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic EHS Summer Intern to join our team. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) with a focus on product safety, environmental safety, sustainability, or finance within the EHS framework. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in EHS practices and a desire to contribute to meaningful projects that drive our commitment to safety and sustainability. Key Responsibilities:
- Product Safety: Assist in the evaluation of safety data sheets (SDS), review product safety information, and support product safety assessments.
- Environmental Safety: Contribute to environmental compliance projects, including data collection, analysis, and reporting related to air, water, and waste management.
- Sustainability: Support sustainability initiatives by gathering data, assisting with reporting, and participating in projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our operations.
- Finance within EHS: Assist with budgeting and financial tracking for EHS projects, analyze financial data related to EHS investments, and support cost-benefit analyses.
- Data Management: Help maintain and update EHS databases and documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare reports and presentations on EHS metrics, assist in communicating EHS policies and procedures to staff, and participate in meetings and discussions related to EHS topics.
- Compliance: Support the team in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Sustainability, Finance, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of EHS regulations and practices; familiarity with sustainability concepts and environmental compliance is a plus.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated interest in EHS and sustainability issues.
