As the Lead Park Seasonal, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the preparation for events, as well as the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment within the Exposition Center complex.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Previous experience in event coordination and facility and grounds maintenance, construction, and repair.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
2024 Hourly rate: $13.34 to $18.57 depending on qualifications

Example of Duties

Under supervision, performs work involving the preparation of the Exposition Center complex for events in accordance with lease agreements; performs basic building maintenance & custodial duties; participates in the training and supervision of seasonal staff; and performs other duties as required.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Organizes and performs set-up for events by arranging tables, chairs, podiums, sound systems and other items in accordance with the lease agreements
  2. Serves as a representative of the Exposition Center to lessees during events by ensuring proper operation of the facility, compliance with lease agreements, and the resolution of questions or concerns expressed by the lessee or event attendees.
  3. Performs semi-skilled maintenance and repairs to the interior and exterior of buildings and plumbing, heating, sound and electrical systems.
  4. Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of temporary Expo Aides assigned to the facilities when full time staff is not present.
  5. Assists in orientation and training of seasonal employees in proper custodial and set up procedures.
  6. Cleans public areas of the facilities by performing duties such as mopping floors, hallways and restrooms, scrubbing carpets, washing walls and emptying garbage.
  7. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients and Expo visitors.
  8. Maintains a positive image of the Exposition Center and the County Government.
  9. Communicates problems, concerns and suggestions for improvement to Supervisor in a timely and constructive manner.
  10. Opens, closes or locks doors to the facilities in accordance with event schedules and security requirements.
  11. Operates and maintains tools, power equipment, tractors and trucks.
  12. Restocks supplies in restrooms and storage areas.
  13. Adheres to all County employment rules and regulations.
  14. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Abilities

  1. Working knowledge of basic building maintenance.
  2. Working knowledge of the materials, equipment and tools used in cleaning buildings.
  3. Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work practices.
  4. Ability to read and interpret work orders and event set up diagrams.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including providing excellent customer service.
  6. Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
  8. Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyles.
  9. Ability to follow, and provide, oral and written instructions.
  10. Ability to supervise part-time staff.
  11. Ability to train employees in duties and in safe practices and procedures.
  12. Ability to safely operate equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  13. Ability to withstand exposure to variable and unfavorable weather conditions.
  14. Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs, on a frequent basis.
You must meet these Minimum Training and Experience requirements:
  • 18 years of age.
  • 8th grade education.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Some recent unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor involving the maintenance, construction, and repair of facilities and grounds.
  • Some recent supervisory experience.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as required by Supervisor.
