ChampionX, has an immediate need for a Principal Engineer II located in Sugar Land, TX. This is your opportunity to join a large growing company offering a competitive base salary and benefits. The role is focused on development and support of the Network Optimization process by analyzing plant capabilities to support the manufacturing of products delivered to the customer at the lowest cost. The engineer will work with the Network Optimization Manager and Planning organization to achieve the best overall design of products produced, outsourced, and delivered to the market. Technical packages will be developed for materials to be relocated and the new producing location trained and prepared for the new manufacturing procedures. In addition, the engineer will work with the Process Technology team in developing standard processes and procedures to support driving improvements in the manufacturing plants.

The individual must be an excellent communicator that can work effectively with personnel across R&D (Research & Development), Marketing, Procurement, and the global supply chain. The individual must possess a strong sense of ownership and be able to plan, organize, and conduct work that leads to data-based decision making.

What You Will Do:

  • Analyze plant capability to accept and produce new products
  • Work with plants to define the appropriate economical solution for new product manufacturing, including raw material handling, storage, transfer, and packaging.
  • Coordinate the preparation of technical packages to be entered into the Global Technology Transfer process
  • Participates in Pilot Plant efforts for new product design to align with plant capabilities
  • Streamlines existing processes and technology platforms
  • Contributes and conducts design and engineering of a wide variety of process, and material handling equipment.
  • Establishes and maintains process capabilities metrics to ensure safety, quality, cost, and productivity standards are maintained / exceeded.
  • Capture work and help maintain and build process standards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience, at least 5 in chemical manufacturing
  • Effective oral communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in product development or process development
  • Advanced technical or business degree.
  • Project and process management leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification.
  • Strong background in safety. Experience handling FMEA, PHA, PSSR.
  • Hands on experience with statistical analysis.
