We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Consultant, Labor Relations to join our dynamic Human Resources team!

As a Senior Consultant, you will play a crucial role in:

  • Labor Relations Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive labor relations strategies aligned by our mission, vison, and values.

  • Labor Contract Negotiations: Serve as a lead negotiator in contract negotiations. Use appropriate negotiation strategies to develop bargaining goals and negotiate contracts.

  • Grievance management: Provide guidance to leadership by contract interpretation and perform investigations on informal and formal grievances.

  • Employee Relations: Foster positive employee relations by promoting a fair and equitable work environment.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field

  • 5-7 years human resources, business partner or leader experience

  • 2-3 years demonstrated labor relations experience

  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills

  • Excellent knowledge of labor laws and regulations

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships

  • Strong organization and time management skills

Job Description:

The Senior Consultant of Labor Relations works closely with the Director of Employee and Labor Relations to provide leadership in planning and organizing work, creating key strategic initiatives, and developing and improving processes for the work of the department. This position will have strong partnerships with leaders.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Administers and manages administration of labor contracts; provides interpretation of labor contracts to managers, employees and HR staff; oversees processes for review and resolution of employee grievances.
2. Advises managers and employees on sensitive labor relations matters, including grievance and arbitration procedures.
3. Serves as lead negotiator in contract negotiations with recognized employee organizations. Maintains current knowledge of labor relations trends, legal decisions, and statutory changes; conducts research necessary to support contract negotiations and employee relations. Uses appropriate negotiation strategies to develop bargaining goals and negotiate contracts consistent with mission, vision, and values.
4. Provides guidance to leadership by contract interpretation, investigation and advice on a full range of employee relations matters including informal and formal grievances, development of performance management plans, disciplinary issues, employee assistance referrals, and reduction in force issues.
5. Facilitates on-going communication and working relationships with employee representative organizations including coordination of joint labor-management committees.
6. Provides information, advice and assistance to Human Resources department leaders, Human Resource Business partners, leaders and staff regarding application of statutes, regulations, contracts and employee relations practices relating to their functional areas.
7. Develops and recommends to the Director of Employee and Labor Relations key strategic initiatives, policies and procedures concerning labor relations and personnel practices.
8. May have responsibility to represent the organization in arbitrations and Employment Relations Board hearings related to unfair labor practice complaints.
9. May be assigned responsibility for program administration and oversight in areas such as ADAA compliance or other related Human Resource programs.

10. Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in a related field

Master's degree in a related field

Work Experience

REQUIRED

5-7 years human resources, business partner or leader experience with 2-3 years demonstrated labor relations experience

DESIRED

2-3 years experience working in the healthcare industry

License & Certification:

DESIRED

Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification
