All About You

A post-doctoral fellow is sought to join a medicinal chemistry laboratory working to develop new small molecule modulators of various therapeutic targets. This work involves the design and synthesis of new molecular agents. Additional work duties include, data analysis, analytical characterization, purification, in silico modeling and mentoring of undergraduate or graduate students.

Essential duties:

  • Designing new small molecules for biological testing utilizing structure-activity relationships as well as structural and computational methods.

  • Planning and executing organic synthesis and purification of new molecules using standard techniques such as normal and reverse phase chromatography.

  • Characterization of small molecules utilizing standard analytical techniques such as NMR & LC-MS

  • Use of standard in silico tools to visualize compound binding to drug targets, design of new molecules and to analyze structure activity relationship data.

  • Keeps meticulous records in laboratory notebook and online data management systems and initial analysis of laboratory results.

  • Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Conduct literature searches related to research project.

Required qualifications:

A Ph.D. in medicinal or synthetic organic chemistry with 0-5 years of experience in an organic laboratory setting.
