Overview

TRC is actively seeking a highly motivated Geologist or Environmental Scientist to support our growing Environmental, Consulting and Remediation practice in New England (and beyond) managed from our Lowell office.

TRC is seeking an experienced Geologist to join our Environmental, Construction and Remediation (ECR) practice in Lowell, Massachusetts with a team that excels in USEPA Brownfields, due diligence, remedy design and implementation, expert consulting services under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and corresponding response action and remediation programs in NH, ME, CT, VT, and RI. A candidate on track for professional geologist (PG) or Licensed Site Professional (LSP) licensure is a plus. Our group also serves clients with environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance issues and program development needs. Experience in spill plans, stormwater plans, Tier II reporting, and other EHS compliance are helpful skills.


Responsibilities

  • Support environmental projects, including site investigation and remediation, in the field and office;
  • Manage and perform a variety of field work including due diligence, environmental assessments, environmental investigations, site inspections, aquifer testing (e.g., slug tests, pump tests), remedial pilot tests, remedy implementation, and subcontractor oversight;
  • Punctual attendance to assignments and client needs;
  • Interpreting hydrogeological and chemical data, conducting analyses, identifying trends, comparing findings to regulations to evaluate compliance;
  • Contribute to the authorship and review of technical documents, reports, and studies, ensuring consistent delivery of work products associated with assigned tasks;
  • Prepare cost estimates and proposals for field investigations and to support remedial planning;
  • Digital technology savvy (tablet-based field data collection systems);
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow geologists/environmental scientists and other disciplines (e.g., engineers, chemists, hydrogeologists, geologists/geotechnical engineers, etc.) to meet project objectives;
  • Approach training and development efforts and coaching offered by TRC with energy and intentionality;
  • Expect and adapt to diverse work assignments often running simultaneously and at different stages and paces;
  • Support TRC's emergency response program for select energy and rail clients (includes periodic non-standard work hours);
  • Maintain a billable utilization target and perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget for the scope of work and schedule with minimal to modest levels of supervision; and
  • Ability to travel regionally is required.

Qualifications

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Science (with a geoscience focus), or related degree from an accredited university.
  • 3 to 7 years of prior work experience in environmental consulting is strongly desired.
  • Skilled in a wide variety of drilling and well installation methods.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to contribute to/support remedial system installation and implementation.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute positively in a project team context.
  • Capability to effectively manage field and office tasks to completion without direct supervision, including tasks involving coordination with subcontractors and technical equipment vendors.
  • Must have the ability to "own" and effectively manage tasks (field and office) and subcontractors.
  • Understanding and awareness of health and safety practices.
  • Current 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety certification is a plus
  • Understanding and applying basic scientific, theories, practices and existing technologies to support the development of solutions for technical problems with firm scope and budgets;
  • Experience or ability to coordinate, perform and manage field work (drilling oversight, soil logging, soil/groundwater/soil vapor sampling, etc.).
  • Excellent writing/verbal communication skills for interaction with multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Experience with development of work plans (i.e., USEPA QAPPs), site investigation reports, proposals, and cost estimates a plus.
  • Client focused, end-point oriented, with commitment to timely and high-quality work product delivery.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background, check, drug screen and motor vehicle records check.
  • Valid Driver's License

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
