Description
The
Ambulatory IV Room Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for the preparation,
distribution, and control of sterile injectable medications. Roles and
responsibilities include chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy sterile compounding,
record keeping (refrigerator temperature logs and hood cleaning), drug
distribution and maintaining inventory. All duties are performed
independently by the technician under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
Schedule:
Varied hours, depending on department needs, including weekends and holidays
Hourly
Salary Range: $26.55 - $38.13 (Union represented, step based salary depending
on years of experience)

Pharmacy
Technician I (9283): Less than 2 years of experience
Pharmacy
Technician II (9282): Equal to or more than 2 years of experience
Qualifications
CA
Pharmacy Technician license - required
Ability
to compound chemotherapy utilizing departmental guidelines for the
preparation/distribution of cytotoxic agents- required
At
least 1 year of IV sterile compounding pharmacy experience- required
Skill
in preparing intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.
Ability
to accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations.
Ability
to work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimal
supervision.
Skill
in computer order entry of medication orders as well as other related computer
entry tasks and computer report generation.
Telephone
and verbal skills required to communicate clearly and effectively with
pharmacists, nurses, physicians and other health professionals.
Frequent
standing, walking, bending, reaching.
Ability
to lift 25 lbs and push 50 lbs
Responsiveness
to auditory alarms and communication devices
