Vaco is seeking a talented Payroll Manager with over 5 years of experience and a strong background in Workday Payroll for one of our valued clients. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity where the right candidate will play a pivotal role in managing payroll operations and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the payroll function. There is potential for a permanent role based on performance and client needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll operations for [insert number] employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Workday Payroll, troubleshooting and resolving payroll issues as they arise.
  • Ensure payroll is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, including payroll taxes, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate processing of employee earnings, benefits, and deductions.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations, prepare payroll-related reports, and ensure data integrity in Workday.
  • Manage payroll audits, including year-end reporting, W-2 processing, and other payroll tax filings.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, or discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
  • Implement and recommend process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure adherence to payroll policies and best practices while maintaining confidentiality of payroll data.
Qualifications:

Must-Haves:

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll management experience with proven expertise in Workday Payroll.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in handling payroll for multi-state operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups) and payroll reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to resolve payroll issues and provide clear guidance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience in multi-state and international payroll operations is a bonus.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced and dynamic environment, ideally in [insert applicable industry if relevant].

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
