The Opportunity

The Department of Counselor Education and School Psychology in the College of College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time 9-month, tenure-earning, assistant professor position, to begin Fall 2025. This position is located on the Orlando campus and summer teaching may be available.

The selected candidate will join the Counselor Education Program, Clinical Mental Health Counseling track or the Marriage, Couple and Family Therapy track, contributing to the program's mission by teaching a variety of graduate level counseling courses, engaging in research, seeking extramural funding, advising students, and supervising practicum and internship students. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with strong teaching, research, supervision, and interpersonal skills.

The Counselor Education program has been ranked among top-level Counselor Education programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report since 2007. The Counselor Education program offers the following degrees: (a) master's degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A.), Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy (M.A.), and School Counseling (M.A., M.Ed.); (b) Educational Specialist Degree in School Counseling (Ed.S.); and (c) a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Education-Counselor Education and Supervision. Additionally, the Counselor Education program offers certificates in Play Therapy and Career Counseling. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A.); Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy (M.A.); School Counseling (M.A., M.Ed.); and Counselor Education and Supervision (Ph.D.) programs are accredited by CACREP. Minimum Qualifications:

By time of appointment, candidates must hold a doctorate in counselor education from an accredited institution.

Candidates must also have:



  • A specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist.

  • Be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Florida.

  • Have experience in graduate-level teaching and supervision.

  • Have experience conducting research and publishing their research findings.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • An earned doctorate from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program and/or meet core-faculty criteria as defined by CACREP.

  • Demonstrable research competencies as reflected in high-quality, publications in international and national refereed journals.

  • Demonstrable competencies in quantitative research methods.

  • Demonstrable potential to develop a well-funded research agenda.

  • Experience in clinical supervision at the master's and/or doctoral level.

  • Ability to work effectively with linguistically, ethnically, or other diverse populations.

  • Active membership(s) in professional organization(s).

  • Evidence of leadership in professional counseling organizations.
