Job Summary

The Staff Research Associate I position in Dr. Jae Ho Sohn's cardiothoracic imaging lab is available within the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging.

Under the direct supervision and guidance from the supervisor, the successful candidate will perform management of a cardiothoracic imaging & radiological reporting laboratory.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $31.04 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging at UCSF combines clinical excellence, trailblazing research, and outstanding education in a leading academic health sciences institution. Our faculty includes some of the foremost names in diagnostic and interventional radiology today.

The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging provides state-of-the-art clinical imaging for patients. In addition, it conducts world-class scientific research to develop the next generation of clinical imaging tools and techniques to fight cancer and other life-threatening medical conditions globally.

Required Qualifications


  • BA/BS biology, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, applied physics, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, computer science or in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The degree requirement is as of the start date of the employment. A student who is still in school toward a degree may apply as long as the degree will have been completed prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous exposure to research laboratory environment.
  • Experience in imaging science research
  • Ability to analyze imaging data
  • Ability to work with diverse team of researchers, scientists, and students
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative
  • Demonstrated record of reliability and excellent attendance
