Job Description

Manages the Logistics group in all Traffic operations, including shipment of all finished goods at the operating site. Directly controls the receiving, raw material warehousing, and inventory control operation. This involves the internally produced and purchased raw materials. Supervises the inventory control and inventory management functions. Ensures accurate inventories are maintained. This is the first of two levels of Logistics Managers.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Encourages, assists, and participates with all AFNA Safety procedures, audits and initiatives.
  • Demonstrates safety leadership in conjunction with the EHS Manager by establishing and maintaining all policies and programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Establishes procedures, documents and work instructions as they relate to the raw material, receiving and inventory management systems. Trains personnel, and holds them accountable for following those procedures.
  • Oversees the inventory management system(s) for finished goods, raw materials, and WIP. Works on system improvements to increase inventory accuracy, efficiency of the system and overall management for the system as it applies to the department.
  • Performs cycle counting of WIP, raw and finished goods warehouse.
  • Supervises department hourly staff, including providing work direction, compliance with Company policies and procedures, department training, administration of vacations, overtime and discipline, etc.
  • Works with shift supervision to resolve material handling issues as they relate to warehousing or inventory movements.
  • Reviews warehousing and IC systems, and recommends improvements to management as appropriate.
  • Ensures combining of loads for inbound and outbound trucks as possible to meet service requirements and cost effective traffic control measures.
  • Ensures trailers are loaded properly, accurately and on time.
  • Provides back up support to department staff as needed.
  • Facilitates daily billing of appropriate freight charges for proper invoicing requirements.
  • Works to resolve in-transit damage issues. When damage occurs from a shipment, investigates the reason why and assists with holding the carriers responsible for the damage.
  • Assists and oversees the resolution of logistics related issues such as labeling mistakes, packing list problems and misplaced product within the warehouse.
  • Works with Corporate Logistics to review carrier service levels and define needs.
  • Coordinates and participates in daily entering of receipt of raw materials and supplies.
  • Perform inventory re-allocations, movements and dispositions.
  • Trouble shooting SAP functions related to finished goods and raw materials.
  • Assists in the creation, support and implementation of a safety culture throughout the facility.
  • Assists with department budgeting as requested.
  • Coordinates shipping schedule.
  • Facilitates daily reporting and communications to Production, Customer Service and carriers regarding timing of shipments in regard to meeting customer delivery expectations and cost effective traffic requirements.
  • Processes customer returns as needed to assist with QA functions.
  • Controls raw materials and packaging supplies recycling program.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of warehousing, inventory control systems and principles, shipping, and receiving.
  • Must have a working knowledge of logistics, transportation and the regulations that apply to the industry, including federal or state regulations as they pertain to the shipment or receipt of material by truck.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Word and Excel and knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system
  • Must have a working knowledge of manufacturing materials and previous exposure to inventory control systems and operation.
  • Must have good organizational, supervisory, administrative, and oral and written communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or logistics required with 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience in the logistics field.
