Job Summary

The Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Building Systems Engineer vacancy within the Facilities Support Division.

The successful candidate will manage, analyze, operate, engineer, and regulate complex HVAC, plumbing, security, and electrical systems in County buildings to ensure optimum operations; perform engineering analyses of installed systems; identify operational, construction, design, and maintenance anomalies; devise solutions and engineer necessary designs to correct identified problems; create, perform, and regulate the preventive maintenance program for basic and complex systems; and acquire, manage, and direct commercial contract services. This position may also provide on-site task supervision to a varying number of technicians assigned to respond to emergency outages and routine work requests.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience


Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in MEP (Mechanical Trades, Electrical Trades, Plumbing Trades) or related field; four (4) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

*Prefer Certified Energy Manager and/or Facilities Management Professional certifications.
*Prefer Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Successful candidate will undergo pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV record background checks, to include criminal justice information system (CJIS) fingerprinting.

*A valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
*Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and lift up to 70 lbs.
*Some work may be hazardous due to location or type of work.
*Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday.
*Must be available to respond to County emergencies. This position is considered "essential."
*Hold or obtain CFC License (universal refrigerant recovery) within six (6) months of hire.
*Hold or obtain a state-issued Master's License (Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing) within 12 months of hire.
