Job Summary: Responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of all mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and refrigeration systems in Union South and food service units across campus. Based on operation needs, employee may be assigned other duties such as landscaping and planting. Responsibilities: Installs, maintains, and repairs environmental control or refrigeration equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment within an assigned facility. May direct the work of other staff performing routine maintenance and repair functions. 20% Monitors, tests, maintains, and repairs Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, related equipment, and controls according to established policies and procedures 20% Receives, prioritizes, and responds to service requests according to established timelines and policies 20% Identifies, prioritizes, troubleshoots, and escalates system problems, equipment malfunctions, and repair needs 20% Performs scheduled preventative and routine maintenance and documents activity on equipment and systems to ensure optimal and safe operation 15% Develops and schedules operational work plans for staff occasionally 5% Works Special events as required for operational needs Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Diploma Qualifications: Required: -HVAC/Mechanic experience Preferred two years' experience with the following: -Building maintenance -Trouble shooting experience -Maintaining and repair of food service equipment -Maintaining and conducting the repairs of HVAC equipment -Industrial, technical or HVAC-related degree or certifications License/Certification: Preferred EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification Required Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards Work Schedule: Hours for this position are Monday-Friday 6:30am-3pm. Along with other HVAC mechanics, will have rotating weekends & holidays on call. Work Type: Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $27.42 HOURLY Depending on Qualifications This position is eligible for an additional $0.80/hr on weekend shifts. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending.
