Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has an opportunity for a Student Intern to provide technical support in our Andover, MA office. We are seeking a motivated and achievement-oriented individual looking to gain practical hands-on experience outside of the classroom. The selected candidate will work with and be mentored by strong, local, and nationally recognized, senior engineers on a variety of environmental-related design and engineering projects. Areas of work will be focused on municipal stormwater, water resources, wastewater collections, wastewater treatment, and drinking water distribution.

Specific responsibilities include:



  • As a student intern, you will perform routine support duties requiring professional training but little or no experience. You may be assigned, under close supervision, to:
  • Work on a variety of environmental engineering projects with an emphasis on planning and design for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities, wastewater conveyance systems, drinking water distribution systems, and stormwater.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations, execute design calculations, and prepare reports, plans, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
  • Assist with project management-related tasks for various engineering design projects.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
  • Assist with studies and alternative analysis.
  • Assist with the development of permitting plans and permit applications.
  • Assist with hydraulic modeling for stormwater, potable water, and wastewater.
  • Field activities and site investigations.
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation.
  • Successfully deliver assignments on time and on budget.
  • Participate in and adhere to BC's QA/QC process.
  • Expected to be in the office (in person) at least three days per week.


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B:
Salary $19.60- 26.90
