CPMG offers flexible, integrative solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) contractors, among others, and specializes in cybersecurity, information and operational technology, electronic security surveillance, and support services.

Summary

CPMG is seeking a Senior Data Engineer. Customer location is in Washington, D.C., but this is a 100% remote position.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Design and develop high-quality software and data architectures for batch and streaming data pipelines
  • Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability
  • Set up database clusters, backup, or recovery processes
  • Design database applications, such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms, global temporary tables, data partitions, and function-based indexes to enable efficient access of the generic database structure
  • Document and communicate database schemas, using accepted notations
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database performance
  • Demonstrate database technical functionality, such as performance, security, and reliability
  • Develop load-balancing processes to eliminate downtime for backup processes
  • Plan and install upgrades of database management system software to enhance database performance

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to multi-task, ability to troubleshoot problems in real-time, and diagnose the root cause
  • Strong understanding of networking, identity management, monitoring, logging vulnerability management, and concepts
  • Depth of understanding with security concepts, protocols, and configuration (authentication authorization, encryption, PKI) with knowledge of IT operating models and processes and experience hardening infrastructures & systems and developing highly available & scalable systems is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with data engineering
  • Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possess high moral and ethical standards
  • Individual must be a self-starter, able to work without direction
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, information science, information systems or a related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience; or a master's or higher degree and 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with cloud development (AWS (Preferred), Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience using SQL
  • Experience using Python (Preferred), R, Scala, SAS, or other analytical focused programming language
  • Pass an employer background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related IT field

The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $135,000 annually.
