Mechanic Class A - MultiSkilled Locksmith- Residence Halls

Job Summary

Drexel University's Real Estate and Facilities is searching to fill one Multi-skilled Locksmith position that will be responsible for servicing the university's Residence Halls. The candidate must possess locksmith experience and bonding, proficient with plumbing, electrical and maintenance skills to assist all areas of the halls. This position is M-F 7AM to 3PM.

Essential Functions

• General maintenance, repair, and installation of cylindrical and mortise locksets and door hardware components (closers, exit devices, electronic latches, keyless entry locksets, lockers, etc).
• Installs, repairs, and maintains all types of door and lock hardware.
• Repair locks. Disassemble locks and replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts as needed.
• Assists managers in setting up and maintaining a key control system.
• Maintains records of keying schedules, key change, and key issuance.
• When not engaged in the above activities, may assist as required in a variety of maintenance work involving manual labor and semi-skilled and skilled tasks such as (ceiling repair, door repair, installing hardware, lamp replacement and light fixture repair, general maintenance, repair, installation of plumbing fixtures and hardware such as faucets, drains, showers, manual and automatic flushometers, sinks, water closets, urinals, valves and piping, clearing and unclogging drains and repairing leaks).
• Adjusts, lubricates, repairs doors, locks, closer, file and cabinet locks, and all related hardware.
• Professional knowledge of master key systems.
• Completing daily work order assignments under minimum supervision.
• Rekeys individual locks, departments, and facilities as directed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of Certification/apprenticeship training at Vocational or Technical School as a Locksmith
• 3-5 years of experience
• Proof of current or past locksmith bond policy and must be bondable.
• Possess a valid driver's license and be insurable for vehicle operation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Journeyman or Licensed Plumber/Electrician credentials.

Additional Information

This position is classified as exempt, union position. Compensation for this position is $31.99 as per the Union contract.
