IT Senior Portfolio Manager

Job Summary:

The IT Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for the coordination, governance, and completion of projects and programs within the information technology department. IT Senior Portfolio Managers will be called upon to lead, direct, mentor and supervise the work of other IT Project Managers and/or Business Systems Analysts.

Job Duties:



  • Oversees all aspects of assigned IT projects and programs, and takes extreme ownership for ensuring their success
  • Builds relationships with Business Line leaders, stakeholders, other managers, and within team
  • Plans and directs the work effort involved with the implementation or upgrade of automated systems
  • Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors and summarizes project progress
  • Builds and maintains constructive working relationships with project team members, vendors, and other departments involved with assigned projects
  • Develops scope documents, statements of work, and other documentation supporting the justification for assigned project
  • Works with Business Line / Support Services process sponsors, the internal IT team, various other support groups within BDO USA, P.C., and third-party vendors to ensure that project efforts are controlled and completed on a timely basis
  • Leads and directs the work of project teams to ensure project efforts are controlled and completed on a timely basis
  • Working with appropriate subject matter experts, establish resource plans, expected level of effort and duration to complete tasks associated with assigned projects
  • Prepares deliverables-based project plans to ensure the controlled execution of assigned projects and for use by project teams, management, and other parties
  • Develops appropriate project issues and risk tracking documents
  • Prepares project status reports for project team members, management, and other parties
  • Reviews and understands or prepare, as needed, business requirements and objectives documentation in support of overall business needs
  • Coordinates with appropriates resources to ensure that system rollout communications and training materials are made available as appropriate
  • Coordinates with technical and support teams to ensure a smooth transition from system implementation to production and ongoing support phases of a system's lifecycle
  • Other duties as required


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Leads, directs, mentors and supervises the work of other IT Project Manager(s), IT Project Leader(s), Business Systems Analyst(s), and/or assigned project resources.
  • Helps develop and improve the Project Services Standards and Methodologies
  • Oversees the application of these standards and methodologies within a team
  • Meets regularly with your team to set and review goals, track progress, and provide input into the annual review process
  • Works closely with business stakeholders and holds Quarterly reviews of Project Portfolio Roadmaps, keeping them accurate and up to date
  • Participates in the Fiscal Year Planning and manage to these targets
  • Balances project work across team and approves project plans and deliverables
  • Ensures Project Resource plans are accurate and managed properly, help resolve conflicts, and ensure they are accurate and up to date
  • Communicates to executive leaders status and pertinent information for team, mitigating or escalating issues as appropriate


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Education:



  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, preferred


Experience:



  • Ten (10) or more years relevant experience, required
  • Experience as an IT Project Manager, Business Systems Analyst, Software Systems Analyst, Business Process Analyst, Technology Support Analyst, or Software Developer, required
  • Experience using a standard project management methodology, required
  • Experience leading and directing the work of others in a project-oriented capacity, required
  • Ability to demonstrate familiarity with a web-based applications environment, preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate familiarity with relational database concepts, preferred
  • Experience working in a professional services firm, preferred
  • Demonstrable experience in Program and Portfolio Management of IT Projects, preferred


License/Certifications:



  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification, preferred


Software:



  • Experience with a project planning application, preferred
  • Experience with ServiceNow, preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills



Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $145,000 - $170,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $145,000 - $170,000
